Up
to now there has been no clearly defined field of endeavour
that focuses purely on behaviour change and performance
improvement in an organisational context.
Books,
articles, cases and research studies draw upon theories
and findings across the entire range of the social sciences
- economics, psychology, sociology, and anthropology -
with little or no integrating thread.
However,
extensive research and experience, and many long conversations
with practitioners of change, has led to a distillation
of the principles underlying the science of successful
change. We have called it Behaviour Kinetics. It is the
science of behaviour change. |

Behaviour
Kinetics is a scientific approach to behaviour change
because it is able to perform the four essential functions
of a science, to describe, explain, predict and control.
It's based on seven principles:
-
Behaviour
drives performance
-
The
behaviour-performance link is job-specific
-
The
start point for change is acknowledgement of current
behaviour
-
The
only true expert is the person who does the job
-
Ownership
of change is essential for success
-
Change
proceeds best from an AT (Ask Them) approach, not
a TT (Tell Them) approach
-
Successful
behaviour change is based on observable, measurable
data
